Every translation flattens the original. Ascent draws it back in.
The marks are not decoration. Each is a tiny
timeline under the word, time and force made
visible. A line is action still unfolding. A dot, a moment
complete. A dot trailing a line, something done that still stands.
Red is a command. Three words from the passage you just saw:

commandImperative: a command. Not a wish, not
a suggestion, but a bidding to remain in Him.
pluralAnd plural: said to all of you together.
The bidding is to the whole community, not one disciple
alone.

The third layer
The original words themselves, in every translation.
Hold any verse and it opens word by word against the Greek or
Hebrew: each word with its grammar in plain language, and a
trail to every other place that word appears.
The grammar marks live on selected translations; this deeper
layer works everywhere.
Why doesn’t every Bible app do
this? Because the lens rests on scholarship: every Greek
and Hebrew word hand-tagged for its grammar, hundreds of hours of
expert work per translation. It arrives one version at a time.
The marks show the grammar of the original:
parsed facts, not interpretation. Where the grammar
is ordinary, we mark nothing. And it’s not only Greek: Hebrew
carries its own marks. See more on the tour.

keep it: come back each day, slow down on the verse in front of
you, copy it out by hand, hide it in your heart, and write in the

Everything you write, mark, and memorize is stored on your own
device. We never see it. Honest trade-off: it
doesn’t sync between devices yet; export and backup are
available.

Which Bible translation is it?
The default is the Berean Standard Bible (BSB),
a modern, readable translation dedicated to the public domain.
Also included: KJV, NET, LSV, and BLB.
Other translations are in the works and will
follow as publisher licenses are granted.
Is it on the App Store or Play Store?
Not yet, and you don’t need a store. Ascent runs
in your browser and installs to your home screen in about ten
seconds:
Open app.ascentbible.com on your phone.
iPhone: tap Share → Add to Home Screen.
Android: tap Install app in the browser menu.
It opens full-screen like any app, and works offline.
Do I need an account? What happens to my notes?
No account ever required. Notes, memorized passages, prayers,
and plan progress live on your device only. Nothing is
uploaded, so there is nothing for us to see, sell, or leak.
The flip side, plainly: your data doesn’t follow you to
a second device yet. Export/backup is available; an optional
bring your own storage may exist someday for sync.
Which translations have the grammar lens?
Because it can’t be automated away: the marks rest on
every Greek and Hebrew word being hand-tagged for its
grammar: hundreds of hours of expert scholarship per
translation. The marks are ready on the BSB and
NET today, with the KJV marks coming;
more follow as the data and licenses allow. (KJV is already
readable; it’s the grammar layer on top that’s in
progress.) The word-by-word interlinear works in
every translation.
Do I need to know Greek or Hebrew?
No. That’s the point: the grammar of the original is
drawn right on the translation you read, and every mark
explains itself in one plain sentence. Whether or not you
read Greek or Hebrew, you see more: if you never tap deeper, you’ve
still seen what the original carries; if you do, the
interlinear and original-word trails are one hold away.
Is this tied to a church or denomination?
No. Ascent is the text itself: no
commentary layer, no denominational gloss. The visual marks
are grammatical facts about the original words, not
interpretation. What you make of them is between you and the
text.
What does it deliberately not do?
No social features, no gamification, no notifications, no
verse-of-the-day popups, and it’s English-only for now.
The app stays quiet so the text can speak.
